"On Wednesday morning, Homeland Security advised that they were in Berkeley in order to contact someone at a residence for what they called a resident application,' Berkeley police Lt. Melanie Turner reported to the Police Accountability Board that evening. Citizen and Immigration Services, an agency within DHS, processes applications for hopeful permanent U.S. residents. They did not request any information or support from us, and we did not offer to provide any assistance, Turner said."
"What precisely the agents were doing, where they were doing it and whether they detained anyone remains unclear. Spokespeople for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Patrol and DHS headquarters did not return messages seeking information. Police said there had been no further contact from the agency, and a department spokesperson did not have details as to which division of DHS had made the visit."
