A $1 billion deal between the US government and AWS will provide federal agencies with credits for cloud adoption and training until December 31, 2028. The agreement aims to transition from outdated on-premises infrastructure to modern cloud solutions, enhancing service delivery and reducing costs. This is part of the OneGov purchasing strategy, which reforms government buying processes by favoring large agreements to streamline acquisitions. Previously, the GSA has announced contracts involving deep discounts for Oracle tech and access to ChatGPT Enterprise, opening up acquisitions for the entire federal government.
Through this new agreement with AWS, federal agencies will be able to enhance delivery of critical services, leverage cloud and advanced AI technologies, and dramatically reduce costs.
OneGov aims to eventually reshape how government agencies buy all their goods and services, focusing on IT products like cloud platforms provided by AWS.
Eliminating the need to negotiate terms for each purchase means a lot less government time and money spent on acquisitions.
The AWS agreement is the latest deal under the OneGov purchasing strategy, which operates under the philosophy of eliminating isolated purchases.
