"That afternoon and evening, September 27, Agent Bovino and his colleagues followed through on their warning. Groups of federal agents repeatedly chased people on foot through the streets of Broadview in ongoing vehicle traffic. Around dusk, Agent Bovino and a large team of fatigue-clad, tactically equipped, and masked federal agents escorted multiple federal vehicles out of the ICE detention facility."
On September 27, three Chevrolet Tahoes arrived uninvited at the Broadview Police Department carrying 91 federal agents, including CBP Agent Greg Bovino, who warned Broadview police to prepare for "a shitshow" and increased chemical munitions and ICE activity. That afternoon and evening, federal agents chased people on foot through active vehicle traffic, escorted federal vehicles from the ICE detention facility, and deployed pepper balls, rubber bullets, and teargas canisters at protesters. DHS reported eleven arrests over September 26–27 protests in Broadview, with only five individuals criminally charged. Federal actions were cited as showing regular forces could address the protests.
