EU leaders will convene an extraordinary meeting to coordinate response after US President Donald Trump threatened tariffs on eight European countries over a Greenland dispute. Trump announced a 10% tariff from February 1, rising to 25% if no deal emerges by June 1. The tariffs target countries that sent troops to Greenland for a Danish-led reconnaissance mission aimed at strengthening security; German units have left after completing their mission. France urged use of the EU's so-called trade "bazooka" and the EU plans to consider its Anti-Coercion Instrument. EU members reaffirmed unity on international law, territorial integrity and support for Denmark and Greenland.
