The adviser, Luke Thompson, shared polling data on X and later faced a reply from the Collins “War Room” account. The exchange included references to rape allegations tied to Thompson’s wife, who had attempted suicide after accusing Matt Lauer of rape. The Collins account deleted the post after it went viral and drew anger from conservative commentators. Erick Erickson criticized the campaign for making rape jokes about a rape victim and predicted it would also make antisemitic jokes. Steve Guest said Collins was paying for the “trash.”
