GOP governor candidate will ban same-sex marriage, top campaign aide promises - LGBTQ Nation
"We want to have a ban on same-sex marriage. And I know my brother voted against it. And he will do it again."
"We talk about family. A family comes into place when a man and a woman get married without the same sex,"
"We oppose same-sex, we oppose same-sex marriage."
"I am the first gubernatorial candidate in history that has a Muslim as part of his inner circle of advisors, and that advisor is Dr. Ibrar Nadeem,"
Ibrar Nadeem, an aide to Republican Jack Ciattarelli's New Jersey gubernatorial campaign, declared at a Muslims4JackToo rally that a Ciattarelli administration would "ban" same-sex marriage. Nadeem described marriage as occurring only when a man and a woman marry and said the campaign opposes same-sex marriage. Ciattarelli introduced Nadeem as a member of his inner circle but did not repudiate Nadeem's anti–marriage-equality remarks. Ciattarelli previously voted against a 2012 bill to legalize marriage equality in the New Jersey legislature. The 2012 bill passed the legislature but was vetoed; same-sex marriage was legalized by the state supreme court in 2013.
