Gay Republican group invited by Ric Grenell heckled and booed musician Yasmin Williams at Kennedy Center
"I'm certain that these folks have no interest in my music at all (or art itself), so why would they come?"
"The artist, liberal guitarist Yasmin Williams, will be giving a free performance prior to the meeting. She is apparently a vocal critic of President Trump and The Kennedy Center's decision to hold a vigil for Charlie Kirk. Let's make sure the audience is filled with patriots."
"Shoutout to the good people who are still here. Shoutout to the people who got fired and lost their jobs unnecessarily. Shoutout to every good person here who wants to hear live music and have good artists still here at the Kennedy Center."
Yasmin Williams, a guitarist, was heckled by members of the Log Cabin Republicans during a performance at the Kennedy Center. Williams posted on Facebook that the group showed up not for the music but because Ric Grenell, the Trump-tapped interim executive director, had invited them to boo her politics. A Washington, D.C., Log Cabin newsletter announced a meeting at the Kennedy Center and labeled Williams a liberal critic of President Trump, urging patriots to fill the audience. Williams said she performed to support union workers, thanked supporters from the stage, and was escorted out by security.
