Gavin Newsom touts knee pads for leaders who've caved to Trump
"The last round of knee pads sold out, just as our law firms are selling out. Many American universities are selling out, and yes, many corporate leaders are selling out to this administration."
""I can't take this complicity of people rolling over," he told U.K. outlet Sky News Tuesday. "I should have brought a bunch of knee pads for all the world leaders. I mean, handing out crowns, the Nobel prizes that are being given away. It's just pathetic. And I hope people understand how pathetic they look on the world stage.""
"Newsom said the Trump administration has been marked by "corruption and graft at a scale we've never seen in American history." He also denounced the administration's "authoritarian tendencies.""
California Gov. Gavin Newsom publicly criticized business, political, and academic leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos for "selling out" to President Donald Trump, and showcased a knee pad printed with Trump's signature. He said law firms, many universities and corporate leaders were selling out to the administration and mocked the situation by calling the knee pads the "Trump signature series." He said his scheduled appearance at USA House was canceled and blamed the State Department, while an organizer said the venue chose to focus on business leaders. He called the administration marked by "corruption and graft" and denounced "authoritarian tendencies."
