Clinton criticized the committee's Republican majority for conducting what she characterized as unproductive proceedings focused on fishing expeditions rather than seeking truth and justice. She noted that committee members asked the same questions repeatedly and that the questioning eventually veered into unusual territory, including questions about UFOs and Pizzagate, a debunked 2016 conspiracy theory falsely linking her to a child sex trafficking ring. During the closed-door hearing, Republican committee member Lauren Boebert violated agreed-upon rules by photographing Clinton, which was subsequently shared on social media.
