Kayleigh McEnany predicted that a Democrat will emulate Trump's campaign timing, naming Gavin Newsom to declare a 2026 presidential candidacy and predicting Kamala Harris will announce in 2027. Newsom and Harris are both California politicians with a complicated relationship described as frenemies. Newsom quipped about the 2024 vice-presidential selection process being bottom-up during a Pod Save America appearance. Harris recounted in her memoir 107 Days that when she called Newsom for support after Biden dropped out, he replied, "Hiking. Will call back. (He never did)." Newsom is widely believed to be preparing a presidential campaign, while Harris has been noncommittal despite reports she is moving toward another run.
