Maria Bucci, 51 and chairwoman of Cranston's Democratic Committee, had a misdemeanor DUI charge dropped after pleading guilty to refusing a chemical test. The Dec. 18 East Greenwich traffic stop followed an officer's report of her car swerving on Division Street. Bucci was sentenced to 20 hours of community service, a 30-day license suspension, mandatory alcohol education, more than $900 in fines, and a six-month ignition interlock. Body-worn camera footage captured Bucci taunting and insulting officers during field sobriety testing. Bucci apologized, said she takes full responsibility, and reportedly apologized to family and police leadership.
