"Posted on TikTok nearly a week ago, the 10-second clip opens with a woman holding up a staff badge identifying her as a registered nurse in the emergency department at Mass General. She pulls out a canister of saline wound wash and sprays it at the camera while mouthing along to the A Day To Remember song "Miracle," which features the lyrics, "No weapon formed against me shall prosper / My will is stronger.""
"Responding to the controversy on its own social media pages, Mass General said it was aware of the video and identified the original poster as a "former temporary employee." "This individual is not an employee at Mass General and has not been a part of the department for some time," the hospital's statement read. "Mass General is a place of healing where all are welcome.""
A former temporary Mass General staff member posted a 10-second TikTok showing a staff badge while wearing scrubs and a stethoscope. The video shows the woman spraying saline wound wash at the camera while mouthing lyrics from the song "Miracle" and displaying on-screen text saying, "Hey ICE, F- you. And f- you too." The clip was shared by the far-right account Libs of TikTok and prompted criticism. Mass General said the person is not a current employee and has not worked in the department for some time, and affirmed that Mass General is a place of healing where all are welcome. A nurse in Virginia was purportedly fired for related TikTok content.
