""What we're seeing is there's coding that's actually being used that is becoming the problem, and hundreds of thousands of dollars is spent per child for them to transition, and codes are being misrepresented where they are saying that it's an indoctrination disorder instead of saying it's a gender identity disorder,""
""The intent of this bill is to continue to protect the children of Florida and hold bad actors accountable,""
""more lawsuits for teachers and doctors""
House Bill 743 and Senate Bill 1010 would broaden Florida's ban on gender-affirming care for trans minors and add felony penalties for providers who "aids or abets" such procedures. The measures would authorize the attorney general to investigate and sue health care professionals accused of violating the law. Advocates warn the aiding-or-abetting language is vague and could reach counselors who discuss gender issues with youth and pharmacists who fill prescriptions. Both bills were voted out of committee. The 2023 law already criminalized doctors who provide gender-affirming procedures to minors. Sponsors framed the bills as protecting children and targeting bad actors.
