Elon Musk launched the America Party over the July Fourth weekend, claiming it will represent the silent majority of Americans. This move signifies his departure from the Trump administration. Despite Musk's considerable resources, starting a political party and achieving genuine political influence represent different challenges. An informal online poll indicated strong public support for the party. Notable supporters include Mark Cuban and Anthony Scaramucci. Musk has yet to reveal specific goals or strategies for the party's electoral targets.
Starting a political party and effecting real change, however, are two very different things. While the America Party will presumably have plenty of funding, convincing voters en masse to support a candidate who isn't Republican or Democrat may be easier said than done.
Musk says an online poll he ran on whether he should start a third political party showed a two-to-one preference in favor. By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!
