Donald Trump celebrated Bill Cassidy’s primary defeat after Cassidy failed to qualify for the June 27 Republican runoff. Trump posted that Cassidy used a relationship with him during his political career, voted to impeach him on false charges, and was disloyal. Trump praised Rep. Julia Letlow, endorsed by him, for leading with about 45% of the vote. State treasurer John Fleming placed second with 28%, narrowly ahead of Cassidy’s 25%. After Cassidy’s loss, Trump turned to Rep. Thomas Massie, attacking him as unreliable and urging Kentucky voters to remove him from politics in the Tuesday election.
