He blamed record-high inflation on President Joe Biden and Democrats and said the American dream of homeownership is increasingly out of reach, particularly for younger Americans. National Association of Realtors data shows the average age of a first-time buyer is around 40, and first-time buyers comprised a record-low 21% in 2025. The administration has also floated 50-year mortgages as another idea, and the proposal has generated mixed reactions.
