Diddy 'hopeful' about a possible Trump pardon after his camp reached out to the administration, attorney says
Briefly

Sean "Diddy" Combs' legal team has reached out to the Trump administration to discuss a potential pardon after his conviction on two prostitution-related charges. Combs is facing a possible 20-year prison sentence but remains optimistic about the situation. His attorney, Nicole Westmoreland, noted their hopeful outlook despite President Trump's past negative comments regarding Combs, who was cleared of more severe charges during his trial. A White House official indicated that any decisions on pardons will come directly from the President.
"It's my understanding that we've reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon," Westmoreland, a member of Combs' criminal defense team, said in the interview that aired Tuesday night.
"I think that Mr. Combs is a very hopeful person, and I believe that he remains hopeful," Westmoreland said.
Combs is facing up to 20 years behind bars as a result of his July 2 conviction, but legal experts expect his sentence to be much lower than that.
A senior White House official told Business Insider on Wednesday, "Any decision on pardons or commutations will come directly from the President, and the White House will not comment on any speculation regarding such actions."
