Denmark says there's a 'fundamental disagreement' with Trump over Greenland
"The group, in our view, should focus on how to address the American security concerns, while at the same time respecting the red lines of the Kingdom of Denmark,"
"needs Greenland for the purpose of National Security."
"NATO should be leading the way for us to get it"
"Why don't you ask us?"
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Greenlandic Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt met with U.S. officials including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The parties agreed to create a working group aimed at addressing American security concerns while respecting Denmark's red lines. President Donald Trump has repeatedly called for U.S. acquisition of Greenland, arguing NATO should assist and warning of Chinese and Russian interest. Denmark plans to increase its military presence in the Arctic and North Atlantic. Greenland's representatives in the U.S. and Canada responded on social media with, "Why don't you ask us?"
