"Am I afraid? I am not afraid... As I've said before, come and get me."
"If you come for my people, you come through me. So, come and get me."
"In his dystopian novel 1984, George Orwell warned about many things we're seeing today. Authoritarians try to deny the very existence of objective truth, brazenly contradicting obvious facts. Donald Trump and his minions present fantasy as truth, and too many fools believe them."
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker condemned ICE officers' behavior in Chicago as vicious and racist, saying Hispanic residents are terrified to leave their homes. Pritzker responded to President Donald Trump's call to jail him and Mayor Brandon Johnson for "failing to protect" ICE officers by asserting he is not afraid and challenging Trump to "come and get me." Pritzker labeled Trump "unhinged," "insecure," and a "wannabe dictator," and affirmed a commitment to progressive values and defending marginalized communities against federal enforcement actions.
