Andrew McCabe, former acting FBI director, said there are no grounds to legitimize use of the Insurrection Act in Minnesota. He recommended a different, improved law enforcement response, noting violent protests have occurred for various reasons without presidents deploying the military. McCabe declined to comment on an ICE shooting of a Venezuelan national because he said Trump administration statements lacked credibility after DHS comments on the Renee Good shooting.
