At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story."
"Nearly one million Junior ISA accounts received no new funds in the 2023-24 financial year, new figures from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) reveal, highlighting the ongoing impact of the cost-of-living crisis on families. An analysis of the HMRC data, conducted by Nottingham Building Society following a freedom of information request, found that approximately 967,000 Junior ISAs (JISAs) saw no contributions during the year. This marks an increase from 869,000 accounts in the previous year, 2022-23."
The Independent emphasizes on-the-ground journalism across topics including reproductive rights, climate change and Big Tech, and finances its open-access reporting through donations rather than paywalls. Journalists are deployed to cover developing stories and to present multiple perspectives. HM Revenue and Customs data show around 967,000 Junior ISAs received no contributions in 2023-24, up from 869,000 the prior year, while total JISA numbers rose to 2,367,000. Nottingham Building Society analysis indicates about two in five Junior ISAs had no money added during the year, signaling increased household financial pressures.
