"partisan retribution"
California filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California challenging the Department of Energy and the Office of Management and Budget for canceling about $2.7 billion allocated under the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The terminations include $1.2 billion for the state's clean hydrogen effort and $4 million for energy-efficiency building upgrades. The complaint alleges the cancellations amount to partisan retribution, will cost more than 200,000 union jobs, raise energy prices, and worsen pollution. Attorneys general from multiple states joined the suit, and the complaint contends the president lacks authority to revoke congressionally approved investments.
