California Pushes Back After Supreme Court Ruling on Trump Citizenship Order | KQED
Briefly

The recent court ruling raises concerns regarding the limitation of nationwide injunctions, which could complicate cases like birthright citizenship. Dissenting Justice Sotomayor argued that this decision undermines equity principles. San Francisco's city attorney highlights the logistical challenges in handling citizenship status without a universal injunction. The ruling notably preserves the constitutionality of birthright citizenship but may weaken judiciary powers. Experts suggest this reflects a broader issue of judicial limitations, historically affecting both political parties and their executive actions.
You can't require some states to issue birth certificates to birthright citizens and prohibit other states from doing so. The idea that a baby may or may not be a citizen depending on where she or he is born is cruel and nonsensical.
We can no longer expect to benefit from other parties when they win court challenges. We have to be in the fight ourselves to ensure that we can vindicate the interests of San Francisco.
