"Under the process just completed by the EPA Environmental Protection Agency, we are officially terminating the so-called 'endangerment finding,'"
"Effective immediately, we are repealing the ridiculous endangerment finding and terminating all additional green emission standards imposed unnecessarily on vehicle models and engines between 2012 and 2027 and beyond,"
"This is a terrible decision for our health and our pocketbooks, and we are going to court to block this and keep the federal government in the business of protecting us from climate disasters,"
"This decision betrays the American people and cements the Republican party's status as the pro-pollution party. If this reckless decision survives legal challenges, it will lead"
The Trump Administration formally repealed the 2009 EPA 'endangerment finding' that classified carbon dioxide and five other greenhouse gases as threats to public health. The repeal removes federal emissions standards tied to that finding, including vehicle emissions rules for cars and trucks and limits affecting power plants and oil and gas facilities. The administration states the change will lower new vehicle costs and save consumers trillions, according to EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin. Environmental groups call the rollback a major setback and plan legal challenges. State leaders criticized the move as pro-pollution and warned of broader public health and climate impacts.
