A Manhattan green card interview on November 24, one that would thrust Dabrio Marrero unexpectedly into ICE's unforgiving padlocked embrace,"
"Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Lewis, of Middle Church where Dabrio Marrero's husband chimes in with the choir, captured the elation of her congregation, banded together in advocacy over Zoom, praying, cajoling the fates to swing in favor of justness, when they received word of Dabrio Marrero's impending release on bond, "As soon as the good news came, Matthew FaceTimed us," she told ABC7NY."
Allan Dabrio Marrero, a Brooklyn resident originally from the Cayman Islands, was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for more than two months after a Manhattan green card interview on November 24 led to an order of removal tied to a missed court date and a lapse in correspondence. He was transferred through multiple detention facilities, including Delaney Hall in New Jersey, Phoenix, centers in Texas and Louisiana, and a Mississippi facility nicknamed Alligator Alcatraz. Members of Middle Church and his husband Matthew advocated for his release over Zoom. Immigration attorney Alexandra Rizio secured a $6,000 bond, enabling plans for reunification with his husband.
