Boston, but not Mass., on latest DOJ list of 'sanctuary' cities and states
Briefly

The Department of Justice has published a list of designated "sanctuary jurisdictions," pledging litigation against communities that do not change their local immigration policies. Attorney General Pamela Bondi emphasized that sanctuary policies compromise law enforcement and public safety. President Trump's executive order in April mandated the publication of such lists. While the definition of sanctuary jurisdictions varies, they typically limit local cooperation with federal immigration enforcement, as seen in Boston's Trust Act, which restricts cooperation to serious public safety concerns.
"Sanctuary policies impede law enforcement and put American citizens at risk by design," Attorney General Pamela Bondi said in a statement. "The Department of Justice will continue bringing litigation against sanctuary jurisdictions and work closely with the Department of Homeland Security to eradicate these harmful policies around the country."
In Boston, the city's Trust Act directs the Boston Police Department to collaborate with ICE only on issues of significant public safety importance, like cases of child exploitation and human trafficking.
