Attorney General Pam Bondi is scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee following concerns about politicization of the Justice Department under her leadership. Less than two weeks after public demands from the president, the department secured an indictment against former FBI Director James Comey, who faces charges of false statements and obstruction of justice related to 2020 congressional testimony and is set to be arraigned. Since Bondi became attorney general in February, prosecutors on Capitol riot and Trump-related investigations were fired, senior FBI officials were pushed out, the Public Integrity Section was largely depleted, and over 70 percent of Civil Rights Division attorneys departed. Bondi has publicly vowed to end perceived weaponization and partisanship in the department.
