"While early voting for the next mayor doesn't start until Oct. 25, New Yorkers who vote by mail are already receiving their ballots and every one those ballots is flawed and every ballot to be used in early voting and on Election Day is flawed due to the bumbling and stumbling by the partisan-hack-by-design city Board of Elections. There are two problems which are apparent in looking at the ballots."
"After Mamdani won the Democratic primary, the WFP nominated Krishna for state Supreme Court justice in Manhattan. Since Mamdani is an enrolled Democrat, a provision of state election law called a Wilson Pakula authorization was needed. So far, so good, but there are special Wilson Pakula rules for the three citywide posts of mayor, public and comptroller. Those offices require at least three of the party's five borough county committees to approve."
Mail ballots for the New York City mayoral race already being distributed contain systemic errors caused by incorrect Working Families Party (WFP) ballot listings. Zohran Mamdani is listed on both the Democratic and WFP lines even though the WFP lacks borough county committees required to authorize cross-endorsements for citywide offices. The WFP initially placed Gowri Krishna on the mayoral line as a placeholder, then shifted her to a judicial slot and inserted Mamdani. State law requires a Wilson Pakula authorization approved by at least three borough county committees for citywide offices, which the WFP cannot provide. The Board of Elections allowed the certifications to stand because no challenge was filed, producing prima facie violations that should have been rejected as fatally defective; similar issues affect Jumaane Williams.
