Mike Kehoe, who co-chairs the organization's task force on emergency management and public health. The Democratic governors of Kansas, Michigan and Minnesota already have left the NGA this year."
Democratic governors, led by California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, are threatening to leave the National Governors Association over its silence on President Donald Trump's deployment of National Guard troops across state lines despite receiving governors' objections. The NGA, a bipartisan group founded in 1908, has not taken a position while some Republican governors support the deployments. Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe questioned whether the NGA should address constitutional questions about federal involvement with state National Guards. Several Democratic governors from Kansas, Michigan and Minnesota already left, and Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly criticized the value of state dues.
