Biden Recalls Seeing Colored Kids' on Bus During First Major Speech Since Leaving White House
Briefly

In his first major speech since leaving the White House, former President Joe Biden reflected on his childhood experiences regarding race in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He recalled a moment from fourth grade when he first saw Black children, whom he referred to as 'colored kids,' being bussed and not allowed to attend school with white children. This memory sparked his sense of injustice and outrage at a young age. Biden's remarks drew attention due to previous controversies surrounding his comments on race and his acknowledgment of the African American community's importance to his campaign.
I remember pulling in, pulling into the parking lot and I had never seen hardly any Black people in Scranton at the time... I remember seeing the kids going by, at the time called colored kids, on a bus going by.
That sparked my sense of outrage as a kid, just like it does I mean, and these young kids right here can tell you things affect them when they learn about something that's really just unfair and unjust.
I've never, never, ever taken the African American community for granted... I shouldn't have been a wise guy.
