"ICE will have enforcement"
"There is nowhere that you can provide safe haven to people in this country illegally. Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else,"
"We should be trying to be inclusive, not exclusive. There are plenty of great bands and entertainment people who could be playing at that show that would be bringing people together and not separating them,"
"If there are illegal aliens, I don't care if it's a concert for Johnny Smith or Bad Bunny or anybody else. ... We're going to do enforcement everywhere."
Bad Bunny was named the 2026 Super Bowl halftime headliner, triggering outrage from far-right commentators. Conservative podcaster Benny Johnson asked whether ICE would enforce at the event. Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski said there is no safe haven for people in the country illegally and called for enforcement even at concerts. Bad Bunny was born in Puerto Rico and is a U.S. citizen, so ICE cannot legally detain him. Many fans are Mexican American and Puerto Rican U.S. citizens. The administration faces criticism for allegedly using ICE to racially profile U.S.-born Latinos and faces lawsuits over illegal detentions.
