Alex Pretti 'had a way of lighting up every room he walked into'
"Through his work at the VA caring for the sickest patients, and passion to advance cancer research, he touched more lives than he probably ever realized. All Alex ever wanted was to help someone - anyone. Even in his very last moments on this earth, he was simply trying to do just that."
"The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump's murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed."
Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37, was an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs hospital and was shot and killed by federal agents on Nicollet Avenue. Family, friends, former coworkers and teachers described him as generous and kind-hearted and noted his work caring for the sickest patients and advancing cancer research. Multiple-angle videos show Pretti helping a woman who agents appeared to have pushed to the ground, after which eight agents tackled him. The videos show Pretti disarmed and shot multiple times despite not drawing a gun, contradicting administration claims that he posed a clear and present danger. Pretti's family publicly denounced the administration and his parents described him as unarmed, holding a phone and trying to protect the woman while being pepper-sprayed. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara confirmed Pretti was a lawful gun owner with a permit to carry.
