"required to now comply with all ICE operations,"
"you cannot provide 'know your right documents' to your riders,"
AC Transit General Manager Salvador Llamas withdrew support for a $523,200 Department of Homeland Security law-enforcement grant after several questions and comments from board members and the public. The grant aimed to fund overtime and other patrol costs for the agency, which contracts policing to the Alameda County Sheriff's Department. Concerns centered on information-sharing and cooperation stipulations added by the Trump Administration that would require collaboration with immigration enforcement and compliance with executive orders. The grant also would have barred programs that advance or promote DEI and restricted providing certain rider informational materials. Local officials urged rejection and state lawsuits challenged the requirements.
