A Tale of Two Jurists in the Trump Era

The Department of Justice filed a misconduct complaint accusing Judge James Boasberg of personal bias against the President. Emil Bove III, a Justice Department lawyer and former Assistant U.S. Attorney, was confirmed by Republicans to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals shortly afterward. Pam Bondi publicly criticized Boasberg and praised Bove. Boasberg was appointed by both George W. Bush and Barack Obama, was unanimously confirmed to his current post, and served on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. Bove served in the Southern District of New York and later joined the President's criminal-defense team before returning to a senior Justice Department role.
