A new rocket system packing twice the punch of HIMARS just fired for the first time
Briefly

Lockheed Martin successfully test-fired the Global Mobile Artillery Rocket System (GMARS) for the first time at White Sands Missile Range. The GMARS can launch a variety of precision munitions, including two Army Tactical Missile Systems, four Precision Strike Missiles, and twelve GMLRS rockets. This configuration nearly doubles the capacity of existing HIMARS systems. The precision-guided munitions, enhanced with GPS and laser guidance, fulfill critical long-range strike needs for the US Army and allied forces, aligning with the Army's ongoing transformation initiative.
The Global Mobile Artillery Rocket System (GMARS) can launch twice as many munitions as the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, making it highly versatile.
GMARS is designed to be a versatile long-range precision fire launcher that can work with existing US and allied platforms, including HIMARS.
The GMARS can carry two Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS), four Precision Strike Missiles (PrSMs), and 12 regular GMLRS or extended range versions.
Long-range precision fires are a top priority for the Army amid its transformation initiative, focusing on long-range missiles to strike distant targets.
