Tensions in Minneapolis rose after federal immigration officers shot Alex Jeffrey Pretti several times shortly after 9 a.m. during a targeted operation aimed at a different undocumented man wanted for assault. Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse and Minneapolis resident, was remembered as calm, competent, and passionate about the outdoors and his dog. Neighbors and colleagues expressed shock and grief, and family members said he participated in protests because he cared about people. Pretti’s parents said they were sickened by suggestions their son was a "domestic terrorist." Federal officials defended Border Patrol agents involved in the operation.
