
"A hit-and-run driver blew through a red light and killed a 75-year-old woman just steps away from the victim's Brooklyn home, police said Sunday. The driver was zipping north on Seventh Ave. in Sunset Park when Judith Byron tried to cross at 41st St. about 9:35 p.m. Saturday, cops said. Byron had the walk signal but the driver blasted through a steady red light, hitting her and knocking her to the pavement, cops said."
"Medics rushed Byron to Maimonides Medical Center but she couldn't be saved. The driver sped off and has not been caught. Cops believe the vehicle may be a silver SUV. About five hours later, a hit-and-run crash left a pedestrian critically hurt in Queens, cops said. A Toyota Sienna driver crashed into a man at Hillside Ave. and 168th Place in Jamaica about 2:45 a.m. Sunday, cops said."
Judith Byron, 75, was struck and killed while crossing 41st Street near her Sunset Park home after a driver ran a steady red light on Seventh Ave. She had the walk signal when the northbound vehicle hit her and knocked her to the pavement; medics transported her to Maimonides Medical Center, where she died. The driver fled the scene and may have been operating a silver SUV. About five hours later in Jamaica, a Toyota Sienna struck a man at Hillside Ave. and 168th Place; that driver also fled and the pedestrian was taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition with broken ribs.
