
"The US is enduring another bout of severe winter weather, as a succession of powerful weather systems brings heavy snow, freezing rain and extreme cold temperatures across much of the country. Bitter cold spread south with lows near −20°C in parts of Texas, causing hazards like exploding trees. Portugal and northwest Spain brace for Storm Joseph with potentially exceptionally high rainfall, up to 20cm by Friday and more in higher ground, following Storm Ingrid.
