"'This really hits home as a mom, Evelyn, a vigil attendee, told KTLA. And this could have been anybody's kid.'"
"'I feel really bad for what happened to her, 'cause the story is so messed up, Aubrey Domingo, who attended school with Celeste, told KTLA at the vigil. My friend told me about it, and it's, like, I never imagined that would happen.'"
Around 50 people, mostly high-school aged, gathered in Lake Elsinore to hold a vigil for Celeste Rivas, leaving flowers, candles, a teddy bear and a banner reading Justice for Celeste Rivas. Celeste was first reported missing at 13; her remains were found Sept. 8, a day after her 15th birthday, in the trunk of a 2023 Tesla impounded at a Hollywood tow yard. Tow yard staff and neighbors reported a strong odor that led to discovery of severely decomposed, dismembered remains in a bag. Los Angeles police executed a search warrant at a Doheny Place home, seized items as evidence, and said the singer David Anthony Burke (D4vd) was cooperating; he had been on a U.S. tour and subsequent dates were canceled after the girl's ID was disclosed.
