The Sierra Club, one of the largest environmental organizations in the United States, has experienced a rapid and substantial drop in supporters since 2020. Support and membership levels have fallen by about 60 percent, reducing fundraising revenue and volunteer capacity. The decline has weakened the organization’s ability to carry out campaigns, influence policy, and sustain ongoing programs. Restoring effectiveness will require rebuilding public trust, reengaging grassroots supporters, stabilizing finances, and implementing strategic organizational changes to recover membership and advocacy impact.
