Two brothers, Luke and Robert Leroy Brake Jr., have been searching for their parents after a flood devastated their campsite on July 4. The family had gathered at Blue Oak R.V. Park to celebrate and enjoy recreational activities such as fishing. Suddenly, the water rose violently, complicating any rescue attempts. Emergency calls were made, but despite their efforts, the parents were swept away by the rapid current. This tragedy has left the brothers feeling helpless as they cope with the loss of their parents.
My parents came down. I've been pushing them to come down for a little while, just to get a little vacation. I rented them a cabin next door to us.
The water was moving so fast, so violently. You couldn't throw a line across to help get them in.
Even though they were higher off the river, it didn't help. They were just washed away.
It’s one of the most helpless times in my life where you can't help. You just can't.
