""SOS""
""We are aware of an issue impacting wireless voice and data services for some customers,""
""Our engineers are engaged and are working to identify and solve the issue quickly. We understand how important reliable connectivity is and apologize for the inconvenience.""
Verizon's wireless network experienced technical issues concentrated in the eastern United States that impacted calls and mobile data. Users reported seeing "SOS" instead of signal bars and Verizon's network status page struggled to load. Text messages continued to be delivered normally. DownDetector reports of outages began rising around 12 PM ET and reached into the hundreds of thousands. Verizon acknowledged the outage on its news account on X and stated engineers were engaged to identify and resolve the problem quickly. Verizon's previous major outage occurred in September 2024 and similarly affected calling. The situation is still developing.
