Major Sorffly Davius, a 46-year-old NYPD officer from Queens, died Friday at Camp Buehring, Kuwait during a non-combat related incident. Assigned to the Headquarters Battalion, 42nd Infantry Division, Davius died from a medical episode under investigation. He joined the NYPD in 2014 at the 79th Precinct and previously served with Joint Task Force Empire Shield protecting New York's critical locations. State and city officials honored his service as both a dedicated police officer and decorated Army veteran. Governor Hochul and Mayor Mamdani emphasized his commitment to protecting others and his role as a devoted family man balancing civilian and military responsibilities.
