United Airlines and JetBlue Airways have announced a partnership called Blue Sky aimed at enhancing frequent flyer benefits for members. If approved, MileagePlus and TrueBlue members will be able to earn and redeem miles on flights operated by either airline. This collaboration will also include priority boarding, free baggage, and preferred seating. The deal will enable both airlines to display each other's fares on their websites, increasing consumer choice. This partnership follows JetBlue's previous alliance with American Airlines, which ended earlier this year due to legal challenges.
The agreement, called Blue Sky, allows members of United's MileagePlus and JetBlue's TrueBlue to earn and redeem miles on most flights operated by the other airline.
Joanna Geraghty, CEO of JetBlue, emphasized that United's global reach complements JetBlue's East Coast network, enhancing options for TrueBlue members traveling worldwide.
