"Detectives identified and searched a number of residences associated with the two suspects. Property stolen during at least two of the incidents was recovered, police said. The investigation also revealed the convicted felon was receiving help from his girlfriend, who was seen following one of the stolen vehicles during the timeframe of one of the incidents, police said."
Two suspects were arrested after a series of violent home-invasion robberies and burglaries in Berkeley that primarily targeted women between Sept. 17 and Oct. 1. The primary suspect, a convicted felon, confronted victims in bedrooms or living areas, demanded belongings, and fled in stolen vehicles; he threatened to shoot a resident in one incident. Detectives linked the incidents as an escalating pattern, searched residences tied to the suspects, and recovered property from at least two incidents. Investigators found the felon received assistance from his girlfriend, who followed a stolen vehicle. Officers located the suspects in Hayward, a vehicle rammed other cars and drove at an officer, and both suspects were detained after a brief struggle; no physical injuries were reported. Both face multiple felony charges including home-invasion robbery, residential burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, and attempted carjacking.
