"I am not going to apologize, because during my lifetime no one sincerely apologized to me,"
"Let's see if I've got the balls to do this to myself now, because it was hard as hell to do it to all of those people, man, I envy those who have no difficulty doing it, and these people exist. That's what I really envy. The rest means nothing to me. Let's see if I have the courage."
Claudio Neves Valente, a Portuguese national and former Brown University physics student, fired more than 40 rounds from a 9 mm handgun inside the Barus & Holley building and killed two Brown students and an MIT professor. He recorded four videos in a Salem, New Hampshire storage facility and was later found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. He refused to apologize, expressed envy of people who kill without hesitation, described having multiple opportunities to attack but sometimes hesitating, and mentioned an injured eye sustained when he shot the MIT professor.
