TikToker who allegedly hit and killed man while livestreaming is arrested
"The video in question was a screen recording of a TikTok livestream. It showed user Tea_Tyme_3 speaking at her telephone before a loud thud prompted her to say: Fuck, fuck, fuck I just hit somebody. Tea_Tyme_3 ended the livestream just as a child in the car asked what had happened. Someone else in the car, meanwhile, questioned whether the driver was OK. That account was subsequently made private, and a biography section that said the user was from Zion was deleted."
"He was later pronounced dead at a hospital emergency room from blunt force injuries. McCarty-Wroten remained at the scene of the crash to speak to investigators and wasn't immediately charged. But she ultimately drew the police's scrutiny after they became aware of a video that suggested Lucas had been hit by a driver livestreaming on a TikTok account associated with Wroten at the time."
Tynesha McCarty-Wroten, known online as Tea Tyme, was arrested for the November 3 death of 59-year-old Darren Lucas. Local jail records list felony charges of reckless homicide and aggravated use of a communications device. Lucas was struck while walking at an intersection in Zion and later died from blunt force injuries at a hospital. McCarty-Wroten remained at the scene and initially was not charged. Police later reviewed a screen recording of a TikTok livestream that captured a loud thud and the streamer saying, 'Fuck, fuck, fuck I just hit somebody.' The TikTok account was made private and a biography mentioning Zion was deleted.
