Tigers announce Parker Meadows roster move ahead of White Sox series
"The Detroit Tigers were dealt some unfortunate injury news on Friday afternoon, as their trade deadline pickup in the bullpen, Kyle Finnegan, was placed on the injured list. It's a tough blow for the Tigers, as he's been incredible for the team this season. But as part of the Tigers' announcement of the Finnegan placement on the injured list, there was an activation of an outfielder who's missed over a month of game time this season due to injury."
"With the Tigers welcoming the White Sox to Detroit, the team is also welcoming Meadows back into the lineup, as he's starting in center field for the Tigers and batting ninth in his return to the lineup after missing over a month. Before hitting the injured list, Meadows had played in 38 games from the beginning of June to the end of July. He hit .200 in the time, with a .566 OPS across 125 at-bats."
Parker Meadows was activated off the injured list after a quadriceps issue that sidelined him since July 28. He will start in center field and bat ninth for the Tigers in the White Sox series. Meadows played 38 games from early June through July, hitting .200 with a .566 OPS in 125 at-bats. He recorded 25 hits, four doubles, one triple, two home runs, nine RBIs, 12 walks and 40 strikeouts. His 56 OPS+ is well below his 2023 (94) and early 2024 (107) levels. The team also placed reliever Kyle Finnegan on the injured list.
