An attack in Austin resulted in multiple casualties and injuries. Among the victims was a Texas Tech student known for spreading joy and making others feel welcome, and a University of Texas graduate student identified as Savitha Shanmugasundaram from LASA High School. Two additional victims remain in critical condition, while several other students sustained injuries. The shooter, identified as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, was fatally shot by police. The weapons were legally acquired in San Antonio in 2017. Law enforcement is investigating the motive and plans to release body-camera footage.
