Tarleton State reinstated men's basketball coach Billy Gillispie after a temporary administrative leave while an anonymous complaint was investigated by the Texas A&M System. No details about the nature of the complaint were released. Associate head coach Glynn Cyprien served as acting head coach during the inquiry. Gillispie is known for tough practices and informs recruits of that approach. Previous concerns about player mistreatment arose at Texas Tech in 2011–2012 and during his Kentucky tenure, the latter prompting a 2009 firing and a $3 million settlement. Gillispie is 65, in his sixth season at Tarleton State with a 78-74 record there and a 226-182 career record including four NCAA tournament appearances.
